 KELLY CUSTOM SAWING

“URBAN LOGS TO LUMBER” and “LOGS TO HEIRLOOMS”

      About Us…….

Kelly Custom Sawing is a family- owned business located in West Haven Ct. The owner’s name is Jim Kelly. Our mission is to provide onsite saw milling and products to the small and medium sized land owner in the urban setting. We are not the largest sawmill but we take pride in what we do, promoting the use of urban logs to lumber, going green. Our customers enjoy working with us.

We are novice wood workers with a passion for trees and a love of being outdoors. Our interest in sawmills started from an adversity. The local utilities across the St. of Ct. was/is blaming the trees for being the main reason for power outages during storms. With this came a plan to remove the trees within the area of the power lines. The storm of 2014 started the removal of large hard wood such as Oak, Maple, Ash, Walnut. Most sawmills will not even consider sawing Urban Logs because of the metal from cloths lines in the back yard to tag sale signs, information posters to lost pets all held on to the tree with nails. Thus Kelly Custom Sawing was born.

We were watching the trees go straight to the landfill. We reached out to the City council and the Utilities to claim the saw logs. Not all the trees are of sawmill quality. This means some trees may be diseased beyond reclaiming for sawing.

We offer the lumber sawn from these logs to the public at a reduced cost. We cannot compete with the likes of Home Depot and Lowes, but we can promote the use of home grown lumber custom sawn to the home owner at a fraction of the price from those commercial lumber companies.

We also are mobile. We have a portable sawmill and are able to mill on site anywhere in a fifty mile radius.

We are not a tree removal company. That is a specialized trade and is very dangerous, best left to the professionals. Our work starts once the tree is on the ground. If you would like lumber from your tree, you contact us before the work begins. I can give you lots of advice on how to proceed.
